Oguni Snowbleached Oguniban

$13.00

Handmade by a skilled papermaker in Oguni village, in Niigata prefecture, this paper is cooked with wood ash, the wet sheets are stored in snow (kangure) in winter, and then dried on stainless steel.

Produced using the Tamezuki method, in which the paper mould is not intensely shaken; the fibres are simply scooped into the mould and the water is left to drain by itself. As the pulp settles on its own, it results in a beautifully dense and substantial sheet of paper.
