Akebono Dark Green
$24.00
In Japanese Akebono means ‘dawn’ and after seeing these delicate, handmade translucent kozo papers you will understand why. Soft wisps of variegated kozo are added to a finer pulp to create a texture and colour reminiscent of a morning sky. A father and son make our Akebono papers in the traditional way in a small Japanese village.
Washi is the word for traditional papers made by hand. The art of washi is an extremely labour intensive process starting with the harvest and preparation of kozo, gampi, or mitsumata fibres. Each sheet is formed, dried, and decorated by hand. For this reason, each sheet, and certainly each batch of handmade papers will have slight variations in weight, texture, and colour.
