While these papers don't actually have any silk fibres in them, they are as beautiful as the finest silk fabric. Densely packed with long, interwoven Japanese kozo fibres, our Silks come in a selection of deep, rich colours. These papers have a lovely deckle edge and have incredible wet strength.
Washi is the word for traditional papers made by hand. The art of washi is an extremely labour intensive process starting with the harvest and preparation of kozo, gampi, or mitsumata fibres. Each sheet is formed, dried, and decorated by hand. For this reason, each sheet, and certainly each batch of handmade papers will have slight variations in weight, texture, and colour.
